In person Workshop Series 2023

Supporting all people who birth to move and feel their best

This three part workshop series is geared toward yoga and movement teachers and would also be beneficial to those who support people who are growing and birthing babies such as doulas, midwives, chiropractors, massage therapists, counselors, and acupuncturists. The workshops can be taken separately or as a series. We encourage people to take advantage of the three class bundle as the content of each class builds on the last one.

Shana and Megan look forward to sharing their expertise and passion for supporting people who birth.

What if there was a way to optimize the core system to decrease diastasis recti during and after pregnancy? Or make it easier to rehab? And how is the pelvic floor connected to DR? Everyone has a pelvic floor, and yet, this area of the body often feels mysterious and sometimes challenging to connect with. Growing and birthing a baby whether through the belly or pelvis, impacts the feeling and function of the core and pelvic floor. This workshop is for pregnant & postpartum people, yoga teachers, and birth workers to explore what DR is, why it’s a normal part of pregnancy and when it’s something that needs tending to as well as a place to explore what the pelvic floor is, feel it in their own body and go beyond the practice of kegels to better understand pelvic health.

In this class you will learn:

  • The anatomy of the core as the “the container” and why diastasis happens

  • Understanding what a “strong core is”

  • What intra-abdominal pressure is and how to know when the core system is being overloaded

  • The opportunity for an embodied experience of what intra-abdominal pressure feels like and effective core strategy

  • The basics of what and where the pelvic floor is and how to connect with it in your own body

  • What a strong pelvic floor is and how it’s connected to the hips, core and breath

  • Gain understanding about how to potentially decrease pelvic pain and prolapse during pregnancy and postpartum

  • A ten minute daily practice for optimal core engagement & healthy pelvic floor movements and function
